So there I found myself, in the middle of the jungle of Benin in western Africa. It was around day 7 or our 14-day trip, it was almost the end of the day, I remember, and the sun was setting. I was sitting with a young African whom was a little older than I. Because of our language barrier we couldn't communicate very well. I had brought my iPod with me for the ride home and when he saw it he of course wanted to hold it and see what it did. After he marveled over it for a while I turned it on for him and from where I had been listening on the way to this village it was on the song: Come and Listen By David Crowder. At first he was a bit startled by the noise but soon his face turned to enjoyment. He then began to hum. It took him a few minutes but he finally caught on to the words and he began to sing what he heard. It was a that moment that through the African accent and his beautiful sound that God was speaking to me saying, "Come and Listen Ryan," "Notice where you are and what your doing and just Listen." I don't think I was until this day that I had actually taken time out and noticed where I was and that I was really there in the middle of God's "work"! From one young man not really knowing what he was saying but just hear him worshipping was worth it all. This is one of many moments in my life that I see as being conformation of my calling into missions.
