Acts 17:28a "For in Him we live and move and have our being..."
Acts 20:24 "However, I consider my life worth nothing to me, if only I may finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus has given me- the task of testifying to the gospel of God's grace."
Take the time to read the passage once again. Does it speak to you? The Lord purposefully put this verse in the book of Acts. It was no mistake. He meant for you to read it right now. Right now. And He wants you to meditate on what it really means and looks like in your life. Do you truly consider your life worth nothing, and is your only desire to "complete the task the Lord has given [you]"?
If I am completely honest, I'd have to say that my life didn't match up with this verse until this past summer. Growing up in a Christian home and attending a private Christian college, I had all the right ‘religious practices' in my life, but that was the problem. Christianity had become a ‘religion' and not my life. In Acts 17:28a, Paul passionately describes his relationship with Christ. He writes, "For in Him we live and move and have our being…" What a beautiful picture that is! The fact that without Christ, we are nothing! Our entire being is based upon Him, and we are only able to breathe because His mercy allows it. This then is how we should live! We need to not only proclaim Christ with our mouths, but live as Christ did, for this is our true ministry. Praise the Lord for exactly who He is!
